Years back, the Gunnison Valley Animal Welfare League (GVAWL) had turf professionally laid in both of the outdoor play yards and kennel run. Since that time, years of wear and tear (and dogs) have destroyed the play yards. Rock and beams are now exposed, and it is imperative that we fix this problem immediately. As a shelter for stray, homeless, relinquished, and impounded dogs, it is our responsibility to ensure these animals live their healthiest and happiest lives. Outdoor play yards are essential in meeting these needs as they provide a space for the animal to experience time outside of their kennel, stretch their legs, exercise, use the restroom away from their living space, play with other dogs, and meet potential adopters.
It has taken us some time, but we have located a company who we believe will do an excellent job. We have met with them, shown them the current job, and discussed what they can do to make this installation last longer than the first project. And it does come with a warranty for any future repairs that may be needed that are covered under said warranty. We are moving forward with this project as it must be done but, in the meantime, we need to start raising funds for this project which has a quote of $19, 700. It is our goal to raise $12,000 towards the total through this fundraising page as we already have some funds lined up for this project.
This is a huge amount, and we recognize that, but this is an essential project and something we owe the dogs in our care and dogs in our care for years and years to come.
