Many of you have expressed your concern for our sweet German Shepherd mix, Jedi. We named him Jedi, and he’s a heart-stealer for sure. Jedi came to the shelter with an injury to his nose and it soon became apparent that his mouth had been tied shut on more than one occasion and that at least one of those times resulted in a scar over his nose. The last time resulted in loss of circulation causing large amounts of tissue to die and lacerations around his mouth. Dr. Jacobson took on the challenge of treating his injuries in hopes of saving this sweet boy. After nearly 2 weeks of every other day laser treatments to help trigger new tissue growth under the dead in hopes of avoiding severe deformities that would have caused him only a life of pain, and antibiotics, she was able to surgically remove the dead tissue in two separate procedures. He’s doing well in a foster home under constant supervision. He’s not 100% out of the woods and we’ll know more on Monday about whether he’ll need more surgery. In the meantime, his vet bills, despite a HUGE discount, are closing in on $2,500. If you can help us at all, every small amount helps. GVAWL is staffed by volunteers and we rely on donations to help us help these babies. You can click “sign up” at the top of the page to take you to our donations page. We would like to extend a huge thank you to our amazing and caring community. Without you we wouldn’t be able to do what we do!
